Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the Group Investigation type of cooperative learning model on the social studies learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN Serang 20. The background of this research is the low student learning outcomes caused by the lack of variety in learning models and the dominance of teacher-centered methods in the learning process. This research uses a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample was selected purposively, with class VA as the experimental group and class VB as the control group. The results of the study show that the learning outcomes of students taught using the Group Investigation model were higher than those of students taught using conventional methods. This indicates that the Group Investigation model is effective in improving social studies learning outcomes because it encourages active participation and student collaboration in the learning process. Therefore, this model can be an innovative and enjoyable learning alternative in elementary schools.
