PEMBELAJARAN MORFOLOGI BERBASIS TEKS DI SMA MELALUI PENDEKATAN FUNGSIONAL

This study examines the application of a functional approach in morphology learning at the high school level. The problem raised is the dominance of the structural approach, which causes students to only recognize the formal form of words without understanding their function and meaning in the text. In addition, text-based learning often neglects the teaching of word grammar. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a conceptual-applicative approach. Data were obtained from one Basic Competency in the Indonesian Language curriculum and one expository text. Analysis was conducted based on three language metafunctions: ideational, interpersonal, and textual. Based on this analysis, learning steps were developed to integrate morphology material into text-based learning. The results are a learning model that enables students to distinguish between prefixes and prepositions in clauses, recognize modality, and understand lexical cohesion. This integration supports the development of students' critical and creative thinking skills. This study concludes that the functional approach makes morphology learning more meaningful and worthy of being considered as an alternative in the development of Indonesian language learning models.
