EXPLORING STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS OF BILINGUAL PROGRAM’S IMPACT ON ENGAGEMENT IN EFL CLASSROOM

Meningkatnya penggunaan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa global selama beberapa dekade terakhir telah menyebabkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam penggunaan bahasa Inggris di seluruh dunia, termasuk di Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, program pendidikan bilingual menjadi salah satu sarana penggunaan bahasa Inggris di masyarakat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa tentang penggunaan program bilingual dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris untuk kelas EFL di SMP Islam Al Azhar 19 Cibubur. Partisipan dari penelitian ini adalah 60 siswa kelas bilingual. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang terdiri dari 21 pertanyaan dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, 25% dari responden menyatakan adanya peningkatan kemampuan bahasa Inggris. Selain itu, 39% siswa mengalami peningkatan kepercayaan diri dan penurunan kecemasan dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Sementara itu, 37% siswa mengalami peningkatan motivasi dan kemandirian belajar bahasa Inggris. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa program bilingual efektif dalam mengembangkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris siswa.Referensi
