ANALYZING THE 2021 ISRAEL-PALESTINIAN COVERAGE: A CRITICAL DISCOURSE STUDY

Studi ini mengeksplorasi potensi analisis wacana kritis dalam konteks konflik Israel-Palestina yang berkepanjangan, yang sering diliput oleh media berita. Fokusnya adalah menganalisis wacana dari dua media terkemuka dengan cakupan geografis yang berbeda, The Guardian dan The Jakarta Post, selama eskalasi konflik pada Mei 2021. Tujuannya adalah untuk memberikan gambaran tentang bagaimana konflik ini direpresentasikan di The Jakarta Post dan The Guardian untuk mengungkap kerangka ideologis yang digunakan oleh keduanya. Menggunakan kerangka tiga dimensi Van Dijk (1984), dengan beberapa adaptasi dari Van Leeuwen (2008), studi kualitatif ini menganalisis artikel berita pada tingkat makro, super, dan mikro. Temuan mengungkapkan bahwa baik The Jakarta Post maupun The Guardian cenderung membingkai berita mereka dengan cara yang menguntungkan "mereka" untuk Palestina dan "kita" untuk Israel. Namun, terdapat perbedaan halus dalam keberpihakan mereka terhadap Israel. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada bidang analisis wacana kritis dengan memberikan wawasan tentang konflik Israel-Palestina saat ini dan menyediakan dasar untuk studi di masa depan. Peneliti berharap bahwa data ini akan memfasilitasi analisis yang lebih kritis dan mendalam tentang konflik sensitif, sehingga menghasilkan perspektif baru dan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam.Referensi
