Abstrak
Penggunaan teknologi dalam pembelajaran bahasa telah meningkat karena inovasi pendidikan di era digital ini. Salah satu pembelajaran bahasa berbasis teknologi adalah aplikasi mobile seperti Duolingo. Penelitian-penelitian terdahulu sebagian besar menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti perspektif siswa EFL tingkat menengah tentang penggunaan Duolingo dalam pembelajaran kosakata dengan menggunakan studi kasus deskriptif kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi kelas dan wawancara dengan delapan siswa di sekolah menengah pertama di Karawang. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis tema. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran kosakata dengan Duolingo secara positif membantu siswa dalam memperoleh kosakata baru. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan respon positif dari siswa yaitu pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan, santai, dan memotivasi. Namun, ada beberapa kendala dalam penggunaan Duolingo sebagai media pembelajaran yaitu fitur yang terbatas, koneksi internet yang terganggu, dan pertanyaan yang berulang-ulang. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi Duolingo dalam pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Inggris berdampak positif terhadap pembelajaran kosakata siswa karena strategi ini memudahkan siswa dalam mempelajari kata-kata baru dan berhasil meningkatkan keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran kosakata.
