Author Guidelines

General Requirements

1. Manuscripts submitted to ELTIN Journal: Journal of English Language Teaching in Indonesia should be research-based papers that have not been published previously and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
2. Manuscripts must be prepared using the ELTIN Article Template .
3. Manuscripts must be written in English and submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format. The manuscript should use 12-point Times New Roman font, 3 cm margins on the left, right, top, and bottom, single spacing, and A4-sized paper.
4. Each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two peer reviewers. The editors reserve the right to edit the manuscript for formatting and consistency without altering its substantive content.
5. Manuscripts returned to authors for revision should be resubmitted to the editor without delay. Revised manuscripts should be submitted through the Online Submission Interface at ELTIN Journal OJS . Revised manuscripts returned more than three months after the revision request may be considered as new submissions.
6. The abstract should contain between 150 and 200 words.
7. The manuscript should include 3-5 keywords in English.
8. The manuscript should contain between 3,000 and 6,000 words, excluding the abstract and references.
9. All references cited in the manuscript must be cited in the text and follow APA citation style. Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley.
10. References should primarily consist of recent sources published within the last 10 years.
11. Manuscripts must be submitted through the ELTIN Journal website (OJS).

Structure of the Manuscript

The article should contain the following sections: (a) Title; (b) Author(s) Name and Affiliation; (c) Abstract; (d) Keywords; (e) Introduction; (f) Method; (g) Findings and Discussion; (h) Conclusion; (i) References; and (j) Appendix, if applicable.

1. Title. The title of the paper must be concise, informative, and directly relevant to the issue being discussed. The title should not exceed 12 words and should be written in bold, centered, 14-point Times New Roman font.
2. Author(s) Name and Affiliation. The full name of each contributor must be written without academic titles. The author's email address should be written below the name, followed by the author's affiliation and institutional address. The author's name should be written in 12-point Times New Roman font and in bold. The email address should be written in 10-point Times New Roman font, while the affiliation should be written in 12-point Times New Roman font.
3. Abstract. The abstract should be clear, concise, and informative. It should provide a brief overview of the entire paper, including the purpose, methodology, and key findings of the research. The abstract should stand alone and should not contain citations or references. It should clearly explain what was done and highlight the main findings. Technical jargon and uncommon abbreviations should be avoided. The abstract should be written in one paragraph, contain 150-200 words, use 12-point Times New Roman font, and have single spacing. It should appear on the first page after the title, author name(s), email address(es), affiliation(s), and institutional address(es).
4. Keywords. Keywords serve as labels for the manuscript and are important for indexing and searching. Therefore, keywords should be carefully selected and closely related to the topic of the manuscript. They should represent the content and main focus of the article and facilitate readers' searches. Only abbreviations that are well established in the field should be used. The manuscript should contain 3-5 keywords, either single words or phrases.
5. Introduction. The introduction should clearly state the purpose of the study. It should include a review of relevant literature and present the research purpose in an essay-style format. The introduction should include key references to appropriate and recent studies and explain the significance and contribution of the research. It should cover the background of the study, research context, relevant literature, research gap, and research objective or research questions. The research objective or research questions should be clearly stated at the end of the introduction. The introduction should demonstrate the scientific merit, significance, or novelty of the study.
6. Method. The method section should describe the research design, population and sample or research participants, data sources, data collection procedures, research instruments, and data analysis techniques. This section should account for approximately 10-15% of the total article length and should be presented in coherent paragraphs.
7. Findings and Discussion. The findings should be supported by sufficient data and should directly address the research questions or hypotheses presented in the introduction. The findings section should describe the results of the data analysis and summarize the main scientific findings without presenting unnecessary details. The discussion should explain the significance and implications of the findings rather than simply repeating the results. It should interpret the findings in relation to relevant theories and recent literature. The discussion should clearly explain how the findings relate to the original research questions or objectives, provide a scientific interpretation of the findings, and compare the results with those of previous studies. Similarities, differences, contributions, and possible explanations for the findings should be clearly discussed.
8. Conclusion. The conclusion should summarize and restate the main findings of the study concisely. It should highlight the most important contributions of the research and, where appropriate, discuss its practical or theoretical implications. The conclusion should explain how the study contributes to the development of knowledge in the field.
9. References. Every source cited in the body of the article must appear in the reference list, and every source listed in the References must be cited in the body of the article. References should primarily consist of up-to-date sources published within the last 5-10 years. Priority should be given to primary sources, including journal articles, conference proceedings, research reports, theses, and dissertations. At least 80% of the total references should come from journal articles. References should be presented alphabetically according to APA style and formatted using 12-point Times New Roman font. In-text citations should follow APA style consistently.
10. Figure. Figures should be placed in the center of the page. The figure caption should be placed below the figure and written in 12-point Times New Roman font. The caption should clearly indicate the figure number, title, and source, where applicable.
11. Table. Each table must be clearly formatted and consecutively numbered. The table title should be placed above the table, centered, and written in 12-point Times New Roman font.
