Post Publication Discussion

Post-Publication Discussion

1. Policy Statement

ELTIN Journal: Journal of English Language Teaching in Indonesia supports constructive scholarly discussion of articles after publication. Post-publication discussion provides an opportunity for readers, researchers, authors, and other members of the academic community to critically examine published research, exchange perspectives, clarify findings, and contribute to the development of knowledge.

The journal welcomes comments, questions, and evidence-based scholarly observations concerning articles published in ELTIN Journal. All contributions must be relevant to the published work and presented in a professional, respectful, and academically appropriate manner.

2. Scope of Discussion

Post-publication discussion may address the following matters:

  1. Theoretical arguments, research methods, data analysis, and conclusions presented in a published article.
  2. Alternative interpretations of research findings supported by appropriate evidence.
  3. Relevant literature or research evidence that may have been overlooked.
  4. Questions concerning research methodology, data interpretation, reproducibility, or the implications of the findings.
  5. Potential errors, inconsistencies, or concerns that may affect the accuracy or integrity of the published article.

Scholarly disagreement is recognized as a normal part of academic development. However, discussions must be evidence-based and must not contain personal attacks, harassment, or unsupported allegations.

3. Submission Procedure

Readers and researchers who wish to submit comments or raise concerns regarding a published article should contact the ELTIN Journal Editorial Office through the journal's official communication channels.

Submissions should include:

  1. The title and author(s) of the article being discussed.
  2. The article's DOI or URL, where available.
  3. The name and institutional affiliation of the contributor, together with valid contact information.
  4. A clear explanation of the comment, question, or concern.
  5. Supporting evidence and relevant references, where appropriate.

The Editorial Office may request additional information when necessary to assess a submission fairly and accurately.

4. Editorial Assessment

The Editor-in-Chief or a designated editor will assess each submission for relevance, scholarly value, clarity, supporting evidence, and compliance with the journal's editorial and ethical standards.

Where necessary, the journal may consult independent experts or invite the original author(s) to respond. Editors must handle submissions impartially and disclose or manage any relevant conflicts of interest.

The journal reserves the right not to consider or publish submissions that are irrelevant, inadequately supported, defamatory, abusive, promotional, or inconsistent with responsible scholarly communication.

5. Right of Reply

When a submitted comment raises substantive questions about a published article, the journal may invite the original author(s) to provide a response.

Authors should respond objectively and address the issues raised with appropriate evidence and references. The journal may assess the comment and response together to ensure that the discussion is fair, informative, and academically meaningful.

Publication of a comment or response is subject to editorial assessment. The journal does not guarantee publication of every submission.

6. Publication of Comments and Responses

Where appropriate, accepted contributions may be published as scholarly comments, letters to the editor, author responses, or other suitable forms of academic discussion.

Published contributions should identify the original article clearly and provide sufficient bibliographic information for readers to locate it. Any applicable editorial review and publication requirements must be satisfied.

The journal aims to facilitate balanced academic discussion while maintaining the quality and integrity of its published content.

7. Corrections and Retractions

If post-publication discussion provides credible evidence of a significant error, research misconduct, or another issue that may affect the reliability of a published article, the journal will investigate the matter in accordance with its Publication Ethics Policy and Correction and Retraction Policy.

Depending on the findings, the journal may request clarification, publish a correction, issue an expression of concern, or retract the article when justified by the evidence.

Scholarly disagreement alone does not constitute sufficient grounds for correcting or retracting an article.

8. Ethical Standards

All participants in post-publication discussion must adhere to principles of academic integrity, professional conduct, fairness, and respect.

Comments must not include plagiarism, fabricated evidence, misleading statements, personal attacks, discriminatory language, or knowingly false allegations. Contributors should disclose relevant conflicts of interest.

The journal will handle submitted information responsibly and maintain confidentiality where appropriate, subject to the requirements of editorial assessment and any necessary investigation.

9. Editorial Independence

Decisions concerning post-publication discussion are made independently by the editorial team on the basis of scholarly merit, available evidence, relevance, and publication ethics.

The journal will not allow personal relationships, institutional affiliations, or external pressure to improperly influence editorial decisions.

10. Contact Information
