The journal takes all credible allegations of research misconduct seriously. All allegations will be handled fairly, objectively, confidentially, and in a timely manner, based on available evidence and with due consideration for the rights of all parties involved.
This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to Semantik and articles that have already been published in the journal.
B. Types of Research Misconduct
Research misconduct may include, but is not limited to, the following:

-
Other Serious Ethical Violations: Any other conduct that significantly compromises the credibility, reliability, transparency, or integrity of the scholarly record.
Honest errors, differences in academic interpretation, and good-faith scholarly disagreements do not automatically constitute research misconduct.
C. Reporting Allegations
Authors, reviewers, editors, readers, research institutions, and other concerned parties may report suspected research misconduct to the Semantik Editorial Office through the official contact information provided on the journal website.
Reports should include, where available:
-
The title and publication details of the manuscript or article concerned.
-
A clear description of the suspected misconduct.
-
Supporting evidence, documents, research data, or relevant references.
-
Information identifying the individuals or institutions involved, where appropriate.
-
Contact information for further communication, if the reporting party is willing to provide it.
Anonymous reports may also be considered if they contain sufficiently specific and verifiable information. All reports will be assessed according to their substance and the evidence provided.
D. Initial Assessment
The Editor-in-Chief or a designated editor will conduct an initial assessment to determine whether the allegation falls within the scope of this policy and whether sufficient information is available to warrant further investigation.
The assessment may involve reviewing the submitted manuscript, published article, research data, similarity reports, editorial correspondence, peer-review records, and other relevant documentation.
Where necessary, the journal may request additional information or consult independent experts. Any potential conflict of interest involving the individuals responsible for handling the allegation must be disclosed and appropriately managed.
If an allegation is found to be unsupported or lacks a reasonable basis for further examination, the journal may close the case and document the decision.
E. Investigation Procedure
When further examination is warranted, Semantik will conduct a proportionate investigation based on the nature and seriousness of the allegation.
The investigation may involve:
-
Reviewing the available evidence and relevant publication records.
-
Requesting a written explanation or supporting documentation from the author(s) concerned.
-
Consulting independent experts or specialists in the relevant academic field.
-
Examining research instruments, data, references, ethical approval documents, or other supporting materials, where applicable.
-
Contacting the author's affiliated institution, research organization, funding agency, or research ethics committee when necessary and appropriate.
-
Evaluating the evidence objectively and documenting the investigation's outcome.
For allegations involving serious research misconduct, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant institution or competent authority, as formal investigations into research conduct may fall within the institution's responsibility. However, Semantik retains responsibility for determining appropriate editorial actions concerning manuscripts and published articles.
F. Fairness and Confidentiality
Semantik will handle allegations as confidentially as reasonably possible. Information will only be disclosed when necessary for a fair investigation, institutional consultation, or compliance with applicable obligations.
Individuals accused of misconduct will be given an appropriate opportunity to respond to the allegations and provide relevant evidence before a final editorial determination, where circumstances permit.
The journal will also seek to protect individuals who report concerns in good faith from inappropriate disclosure of their identities and from retaliation, to the extent reasonably possible.
Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed when disclosure is necessary to ensure a fair investigation or fulfill applicable legal, institutional, or ethical obligations.
G. Possible Editorial Actions
Depending on the nature of the misconduct, the seriousness of the issue, and the evidence available, Semantik may take one or more of the following actions:
-
Request clarification, additional information, or supporting evidence from the author(s).
-
Request revisions or corrections to a submitted manuscript.
-
Reject a manuscript before publication.
-
Suspend the editorial and publication process while a significant concern is being investigated.
-
Refer the matter to the relevant institution or competent authority.
-
Publish a correction when the published record requires amendment.
-
Issue an expression of concern when serious questions about an article remain unresolved.
-
Retract a published article when justified under the journal's Correction and Retraction Policy.
-
Take other proportionate editorial actions consistent with publication ethics and applicable guidelines.
No adverse editorial action will be taken solely on the basis of an unverified allegation. Decisions will be based on the available evidence, responses from the parties concerned, and the potential impact on the integrity of the scholarly record.
H. Institutional Cooperation
Where appropriate, Semantik may contact the relevant university, research institution, funding body, or research ethics committee to request clarification or an investigation into suspected misconduct.
The journal may share relevant documentation when necessary and appropriate, subject to confidentiality requirements and applicable regulations. Findings from institutional investigations may inform the journal's editorial decisions; however, the journal retains responsibility for decisions concerning its published content.
I. Appeals and Reconsideration
Authors or other directly affected parties may request reconsideration of an editorial decision by submitting a written appeal supported by relevant new evidence or by identifying a material procedural error.
Where practicable, the appeal will be reviewed by an editor or independent editorial representative who was not directly involved in the original decision.
Appeals will be handled fairly and objectively. The submission of an appeal does not prevent the journal from taking necessary action to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
J. Record Keeping and Follow-up
The Semantik Editorial Office will maintain appropriate records of reported allegations, supporting evidence, communications, investigation procedures, decisions, and editorial actions taken.
All records will be managed responsibly, with appropriate attention to confidentiality, data protection, and applicable requirements.
A previously closed case may be reconsidered if credible new evidence becomes available.
K. Relationship with Other Editorial Policies
This policy should be read in conjunction with the Semantik Publication Ethics Policy, Plagiarism Policy, Authorship and Contributorship Policy, Conflict of Interest Policy, Peer-Review Process Policy, Artificial Intelligence Policy, and Correction and Retraction Policy.
These policies will be applied together whenever an allegation involves more than one aspect of research integrity or publication ethics.
L. Commitment to Research Integrity
Semantik is committed to protecting the accuracy, credibility, and transparency of scholarly publications. The journal will consider all credible allegations of research misconduct seriously and address them through fair, evidence-based, confidential, and proportionate procedures.
Through this policy, Semantik seeks to promote responsible research practices, strengthen ethical awareness among authors, reviewers, and editors, maintain public trust in academic publishing, and safeguard the integrity of the scholarly record.
