INTERNALISASI KARAKTER RELIGIUS MELALUI EKSTRAKURIKULER ROHANI ISLAM DI SMAN 9 TANJUNG JABUNG TIMUR

Abstract

This research originates from the issue of youth character today. The development of education demands the simultaneous development of the nation's character, making character-related issues a primary concern in the field of education. Problems such as promiscuity, lack of respect for teachers and parents, brawls, drug abuse, free sex, and others highlight the need for education to focus not only on intellectual development but also on character education. Therefore, this research aims to understand the process and implications of the internalization of religious character through the Islamic Spiritual Extracurricular Activities at SMAN 9 Tanjung Jabung Timur. The subjects of this study are students who are members of the Islamic Spiritual extracurricular program, using a qualitative descriptive approach with techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the process of internalizing religious character takes place through various religious activities such as regular study sessions (pengajian), congregational prayers, and consistent moral development. These activities not only enhance students' religious understanding but also foster attitudes of tolerance, discipline, and social responsibility. Students who actively participate in the Islamic Spiritual extracurricular activities demonstrate positive changes in behavior and religious habits, which are reflected in their daily lives. The success of this internalization process highlights the important role of extracurricular activities as a platform for character development based on Islamic values.
