Plagiarism Policy

Screening for Plagiarism

Jurnal Ilmiah P2M STKIP Siliwangi requires manuscripts to demonstrate originality and acknowledge all sources appropriately. Every submitted manuscript is checked with iThenticate (Crossref Similarity Check) by the editorial team before it is sent to reviewers, and checked again before publication.

The journal applies a maximum overall similarity index of 20%, interpreted through editorial assessment. A low score does not establish originality, and a higher score does not independently prove plagiarism. Editors examine the nature, extent, sources, and attribution of overlapping material.

Forms of Plagiarism

1. Literal Copying

Reproducing another person’s wording without appropriate quotation or attribution constitutes plagiarism. Citing a source does not justify presenting its wording as original text.

2. Substantial Copying

Using significant portions of another work without adequate acknowledgement is unacceptable. Editors assess both the amount reproduced and its importance to the manuscript’s intellectual contribution.

3. Inappropriate Paraphrasing

Rewriting material does not remove the obligation to credit its source. Minor wording changes without proper attribution may constitute plagiarism.

4. Inappropriate Text Recycling

Authors must identify and disclose substantial reuse of their previously published material. Related publications must be cited, and any overlap must be justified. Undisclosed duplicate publication is unacceptable.

Editorial Action

Editors may request clarification, attribution, or revision where concerns can be resolved. Manuscripts with substantiated plagiarism or unjustified redundant publication will be rejected. Superficial rewriting solely to reduce a similarity score is insufficient.

Concerns arising after publication are assessed under the journal’s research misconduct procedures. Appropriate outcomes may include correction, an expression of concern, or retraction.
